With increasing frequency, Mr. David Hoyle, President of Research Options Inc. is being asked to facilitate internal company meetings. You might ask why organizations would want-or need, to have an outside professional facilitate their internal or off-site sessions. Some of the reasons behind this growing phenomenon include:

  • The ability of an outside moderator to keep the meeting on schedule-ensuring that presentations or question-and-answer sessions start and end on time!
  • The ability of an outside professional to make sure that both broad-based and specific meeting objectives are fulfilled.
  • The unbiased approach of a professional who can run the meeting without being hindered in any way by internal politics, "hidden agendas," etc.
  • The professional insights that a facilitator with more than twenty years of experience in market analysis, product management strategic planning and consulting across a broad range of industries can bring to the project.

Examples of meetings where Mr. Hoyle has acted as a facilitator include:

  • For a U.S. medical device manufacturer, facilitation of a two-and-one-half day Marketing Planning meeting with individuals from all levels of management present and participating in the sessions.
  • For a large non-profit, charitable organization, facilitation of two different all day sessions with senior executives from pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Objectives were to allow for constructive feedback and brainstorming sessions between decision-makers in this alliance of non-profit/profit organizations. During the second session, pre-programmed lap top computers were used to allow for real-time polling of participants.
  • For the division of a major pharmaceutical company, facilitated an all day session of both domestic and international managers. Objectives were to find common ground for expediting a company-wide project on worldwide customer satisfaction.
  • Facilitated several half-day sessions with independent agents of a major insurer who were in town at corporate headquarters. Company executives wanted to know (in an unbiased manner) what agents really thought about new software systems.
  • For a major manufacturer of medical devices and disposables, facilitated an all day meeting with managers from R.& D., Marketing and physicians flown in from around the country to brainstorm product development opportunities within a certain specialty area.

Our facilitation services can run from simple moderation-to our assisting in the planning of meeting objectives and preparation of formal reports on meeting results and action steps required by all parties involved. Contact us for details.
