1.) For a start-up company considering a new food product for children: conducted several focus groups with children, and children with their parents in the room to gauge reaction to packaging, flavors (taste tests) and to determine the role of the child/parent in purchase decisions.
2.) For a non-profit organization: Conducted several hundred shopping mall intercepts with mature consumers to gauge reaction to an advertising campaign for a new service offering being considered by our client. These elderly consumers jointly developed a name for the new service and provided valuable information about advertising copy and the best medium for reaching this target group.
3.) For a fitness facility: Conducted telephone ?exit interviews? with consumers who decided not to renew their annual memberships at this club. The interviews determined the reasons for non-renewals, and gauged reaction to new pricing and service offerings being considered. Also developed a ?suggestion? box system for encouraging suggestions and providing rewards to present club members.
These examples serve to illustrate some of the research methods we have used over the last nine years to obtain information for our clients. However, many of our projects involve combination methodologies, e.g. in-depth interviews followed by a fax surveyor a focus group followed by an Internet survey.
